First Book! MARLEY AND ME!

Hey all you book worms out there! I don't know about you but I am really excited for our first book in The Book Discussion Board! In case you don't know, the book discussions follow a certain format. For those who haven't read the book we are currently discussing, I will write the description on the back of the book so you can decide if you would like to read it. After the book description I will write my on review and thoughts on the book (don't worry-- I will be sure to specify that it is a spoiler alert!). Well, ther's nothing more to say, so let's start our Discussion on the book Marley & Me.

John and Jenny were young and in love, with a perfect little house and not a care in the world. Then they brought home Marley, a wiggly yellow furball of a puppy- and their life would never be the same. Marley quickly grew into a barreling, 97 pound steamroller of Labrador retriever who crashed through screen doors, flung drool on guests, stole women's undergarments, devoured couches and fine jewlery, and was expelled from obedience school. Yet Marley's heart was pure and he remained a steadfast model of love and devotion for a growing family through pregnancy, birth, heartbreak, and joy, right to the inevitable goodbye. The heartwarming and unforgettable story of a family in the making and the wondrously neurotic dog who taught them what really matters in life.

SPOILER ALERT!! SPOILER ALERT!! SPOILER ALERT!! SPOILER ALERT!!SPOILERALERT

Whether you are a dog person or a cat person, I gurantee that you will love this book! Marley and Me is a heartwarming tail (as in Marley's tail *wink wink*) that kept me laughing and crying. Reading this book really shows you a dog's mentality; especially a dog like Marley. Marley is a crazy, psycho, neurotic dog, but he is also loving a caring. Marley expresses his love for his masters John and Jenny even when he misbehaves. Marley and Me lets you expierience Marley's life firsthand as he is adopted, expelled from obeifience school, living his life, falling ill, and saying his last goodbye. Throughout the book I became to love Marley for the crazy dog that he was. By the time Marley died, I cried for a solid 5 minutes; not only did i cry for Marley but also my dog who has past away, my current dog who is inching towards death, and every other dog in the world who is deceased. This book is powerful because it shows you how a dog can make a difference in your life. It makes you think that dogs help you love and care for another. No matter what happened, Marley was their for John and Jenny. Even when Jenny went through a period of time where she wanted Marley to go away and never return, Marley was still there willing to be a faithful pet. Marley helped John and Jenny cope with the sadness of a stillborn child, stressing pregnancices, stress from work, and myriad of other problems in their lives. Marley taught John and Jenny how to be good parents, amongst other things. One of my favorite parts of the book was when Marley jumped out of the car window while it was moving, to be cought by Jenny. Marley walked alongside the car on his front paws, while Jenny held his hind legs until they could find a place to stop. Another memory for the Marley Memory Montage is when J&J were sitting on the lawn with their 2 kids, 1 baby and Marley, and the 2 kids wanted to show J&J something. John and Jenny got up and went to the side of the house where their kids left them, and where they could still see the baby (and Marley who was sitting next to the baby). While J&J were at the side of the house, an old couple walks by and all they saw was a baby alone on the lawn and a dog who was apparently watching the baby. The couple was about to call CPS when John and Jenny stepped out from the sie of the house so that the old couple would know that Marley was not watching the baby. Bottom line is: Marley was there for everything until the day that he died. He got the funeral that he deserved: under his favorite tree in a grave John dug himself with pictures and cards from the children. After reading this book, you will never look at dogs in the same light as before!

Next Post!

Hello everyone! I would just like to inform you that my next post will be on the book Marley and Me. It will be posted by the end of this week. I will leave each Book Discussion up for about a week or two to ensure that everyone has time to read it. After Marley and Me I feel that it is my duty as a book lover and a Harry Potter lover to do the next Book Discusion on the first HP book: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. After that will be the 2nd book, then the 3rd book, and so on. After Marley and Me and the Harry Potter series are completed I shall post a Discussion about the book that Melissa suggested to me. It is called I'd Tell You I Love You But Then I'd Have To Kill You by Ally Carter. It is found in the Teens section, but it is very good; I highly recommend it. It would be a good idea to read the books I have mentioned if you already haven't so I don't spoil the books in my Discussions. Before I really start talking about what happens in the book, I will post the book's description for people who haven't read it to see if they would like it. Happy Reading!

WELCOME!

Hi, everybody and welcome to my blog The Book Discussion Board. The purpose of this blog is to (you guessed it!) discuss books. We will discuss and rate all different types or books and from different authors. I started The Book Discussion Board because I have a very strong passion about reading and I want to discuss wonderful works of literature with people who share my passion. If you ever have a book you would like to discuss, please feel free to comment and I will look into the book and post a discussion about it. After each discussion posted about a book, if you have read the book in question please rate it. Even if your views on the book is different then mine, I would love to hear your thoughts on it. The ratings are on a scale of one to ten. One is the lowest and ten is the highest; rate the book accordingly and tell why you gave the book that rating. All thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated. For those fans of Harry Potter, please consider checking out my other blog Harry Potter at the web address:

Thank you for following my blog, I will try my best not to disappoint my fellow bookworms!
